It’s finally happening. You’ve been researching online for months and endlessly prowling through reviews on Google to create a short list of expert landscapers to be part of your ‘dream team’. Congratulations – you’re one step closer to making your dream garden a reality.

For most, any type of renovating, building or landscaping can be an exciting process, however not knowing what to expect when working with a trade can feel overwhelming. When it comes to landscape construction, there are a number of moving parts to navigate and with that in mind, you really need an expert landscaper by your side to guide you through the process.

To help you get started on your landscaping adventure, we’d love to share our simple 5 step client satisfaction formula with you (oh and did we mention that we’re experts in our trade? Ahhh Yes! we’re leading, qualified and award winning… ).

Step 1 – Consultation with our Creative Landscapes Director

The ‘meet and greet’

The first step in any landscaping project is for our team to conduct a site assessment and find out exactly what you want to achieve from your project.  It is important for us to understand from the offset how you want to use your gardens and know any concerns that you may have or considerations that we need to be aware of.  Our team is then able to use their extensive knowledge to create a unique and individual outdoor space which reflects your brief and compliments the surrounding landscape and architecture. This consultation is complimentary however a fee is charged should a landscape design be required.

Step 2 – Creativity from our Landscape Architect

Our creative juices start flowing

We can work from existing plans that you may already have or of course create a design for you to build on your brief. A landscape design is a 2D drawing of your outdoor space including any existing buildings, pools, ponds and alfresco areas, with the proposed new landscaping overlaid on to it.  This could include retaining walls, paving, decks, trees, plants, water features, seating, fire pits and any additional items that you may require. Once you have reviewed the design, we will make any requested alterations and seek approval on the design before moving onto the next stage.

Step 3 – The project plan and investment required

We put pen to paper

Once the landscape design is approved and your choice of materials are confirmed, we will provide you with a fully itemised quotation detailing each part of the landscape construction and the investment required to complete the project. This allows you to see exactly where your dollars are being spent and to make any adjustments as required before accepting our quotation and giving us your authority to proceed with the scope of works.

Step 4 – Construction of your new landscape

Where the magic happens

Once you have accepted our quotation you will be welcomed onboard by our Head of Client Experience who will ensure your project runs smoothly – sort of like your personal project coordinator. They will provide you with a proposed commencement date for your project and keep you up to date on the run up to our first day onsite. About a week or two before your project starts, we’ll arrange a pre-start inspection with the team. We encourage you to be there for this so you can meet the guys who will be onsite getting their hands dirty! Our team then moves into action and starts bringing your dream garden to life, reporting on a weekly basis on the status of your project.

Step 5 – Project Sign-off and Handover

Where lifelong memories are created

Once the project is finished you will be invited to inspect our work and upon your 100% satisfaction, you will be asked to sign off on the completed works. At this stage we will provide a handover on how to best care for your new landscape with a shiny new landscape maintenance manual.

At Shaw Landscape Group, we put our heart into everything we do to ensure that your landscape project is a positive experience. We pride ourselves on being honest, transparent and in constant communication, keeping you ‘in the loop’ as to where your project is at – from a simple site visit reminder text to emails with tips on the latest trends or how to make a payment.
