In partnership with Shaw Landscape Group, students from Kemblawarra Public School got their hands dirty last week in celebration of National Tree Day. With their pint-sized hats and gloves, these young ‘Environmental Warriors’ experienced an exciting day of tree planting.

Not only did this event help to ‘beautify’ the school grounds, it also strengthened their ‘Guardians of the Garden’ green thumb program. By taking part in a such an important initiative, Scott Shaw, Founder of Shaw Landscape Group hopes to sow the seeds of knowledge among the younger generations about the importance of the environment, native trees and their significance to First Nations arts and culture.
“As landscapers, we create environments, not take away from them and one of the best parts about my job is having the ability to give back and educate our younger community”.

The school also enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch generously catered by Dapto Lions Club, ‘Welcome to Country’ presentation by Aunty Lorraine and Narelle of Coomaditchie as well as an interactive ‘Tree talk’ by Environmental Engineer Zac-noel Strang and Cultural Centre Coordinator, Errolyn Strang of The Illawarra Aboriginal Corporation.

Co-sponsored by Illawarra and Albion Park Toyota, the team at Shaw Landscape Group worked closely to nurture the relationships of their suppliers, securing generous plant and tree stake donations from the likes of Berry Wholesale Nursery, Andreasens Green Nursery, Jamberoo Native Nursery, Wollongong Botanical Gardens, Sydney Wildflower Nursery and All Stakes Hire.
Off the back of a successful event last year planting over 80 trees and shrubs at Farmborough Road Public School, Shaw Landscape Group executed an even bigger and better event for 2023.
